An unidentified man, yet to be identified, has reportedly jumped into the lagoon near the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge area in Lagos State. The incident occurred on a Tuesday afternoon.
Passersby and commuters rushed to the bridge barricade in an attempt to spot the man and offer help.
At present, emergency response teams are on-site, actively engaged in efforts to recover the individual from the water.
Local authorities, including marine police and the Lagos State emergency officials, are collaborating to retrieve the man, either deceased or alive. The police have cordoned off the affected area.
Confirming the occurrence, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the State Public Relations Officer, stated, "The incident happened truly. Marine police and the Lagos State emergency officials are here. Efforts are still on to bring out his body dead or alive."
Amodu Shakiru, speaking on behalf of Adeseye Margaret, the Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, reported, "We received a distress call at approximately 2:43 pm and promptly arrived at the location. There is no update available at this time."
