A corps member, Izzy Sniper, has taken to social media to express his disappointment after receiving his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) allowance.
Posting in an NYSC online community on Facebook, Izzy voiced his frustration with the federal government for not implementing the new minimum wage increase for corps members.
On Tuesday, July 23, the Nigerian Senate swiftly passed the N70,000 minimum wage bill, leading many, including Sniper, to believe that they would receive the new allowance amount.
However, Izzy reported that he was paid only N33,000 instead of the anticipated N77,000.
He wrote:
“I just received 33k this morning 😔😔.
“Thought we were supposed to receive 77k we the passing out corpers…Why FG do us like this na😥.”
His post quickly garnered attention, with many users expressing their opinions on the situation.
