This controversy erupted when the youth division of the church, Youth Alive Fellowship (YAF), made a significant announcement on its official Facebook page, introducing the new youth pastor to the congregation and the public at large.

However, this announcement was met with strong criticism and discontent from a section of Nigerians, who questioned the rationale behind Bishop Oyedepo's decision to appoint his son to this role, labeling it as an instance of 'turning the church into a family business.'

“On behalf of the Youths of Living Faith Church Worldwide, we extend a warm welcome to our newly appointed National Youth Pastor, Pastor Isaac Oyedepo, as he takes the reins of leadership in Youth Alive Fellowship, steering it to greater heights,” announced YAF on their Facebook page.

Reactions to Oyedepo's Son's Appointment as National Youth Pastor

Chike Ogugwu expressed his view, saying: “It's his father's business, so let him manage it well.”

Another user opined: "This is a family business, preparing him to take over. Papa, mama, pikin church; may God help us.”

Paul Waiyo offered a different perspective: “This decision appears to be a strategic business move. It might be the best way to proceed.”

Joseph Ogidiolu remarked: “This is a family business enterprise that is deeply rooted in family heritage.”

Christian Chukwudi speculated: “It seems like they are gradually positioning him to eventually take over from his father.”
