Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed his criticism towards Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, for deleting a tweet in which he referred to Bola Tinubu as "Mr President." Peter Obi's tweet was a response to viral videos on social media showcasing President Bola Tinubu's extensive convoy in Lagos. Obi emphasized that leaders who advocate for sacrifices for the betterment of Nigeria should also lead by example.

During the burial Mass of the late Dean Emeritus of the Church of Nigeria, the Most Reverend Maxwell Anikwenwa, held at St Faith Cathedral, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion in Awka, Obi made a statement emphasizing the need to reduce the cost of governance, which has consistently been his stance on governance.

In his original tweet, Obi wrote, "Allegedly showing Mr President moving with about a 120-car convoy. While I have not had the opportunity of seeing the said video, my advice remains consistent – that sacrifices for a better Nigeria must start from the leaders at all levels of government." However, he later deleted the tweet and replaced it with a new one that mentioned a "trending motorcade video" instead of the "120-car convoy of Mr President."

Bashir Ahmad condemned Obi's actions, expressing his pity towards the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party. Ahmad questioned how Obi could delete a well-composed tweet addressing the president as "Mr President" simply because some people claiming to be his supporters bullied and criticized him.
