The family of a baby girl who was born in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, with as many as 26 fingers referred to her as an “incarnation of goddess.”.
Each of her hands and legs had six toes, and she was born with seven fingers on each. By her family’s standards, the infant is an embodiment of the goddess Dholagarh Devi.
Doctors have labeled it a genetic anomaly, though. While having 26 fingers is common, the condition is incredibly rare.
Sarju Devi, the mother of the newborn girl, is a 25-year-old woman who gave birth to her when she was 8 months pregnant.
“There is no harm of any kind in having 26 fingers but it is a genetic anomaly. The girl is absolutely healthy,” said Dr. BS Soni.
The baby is being celebrated by the family and is thought to be an incarnation of Dholagarh devi, according to the mother’s brother. “We believe that the child my sister just gave birth to, who has 26 fingers, is Dholagarh Devi in a new body. We’re thrilled, he said.
