The Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Phrank Shaibu, has responded to the testimony shared by the former governor of River State, Nyesom Wike, during a church service. Wike claimed that he had been poisoned at the PDP's secretariat during the 2018 election campaign, resulting in the failure of his liver and kidney. However, Shaibu has disputed Wike's account, suggesting that it was alcohol poisoning rather than food poisoning that affected him.
Shaibu advised Wike to reduce his consumption of alcohol, stating that excessive alcohol consumption is dangerous to one's health. He pointed out Wike's known fondness for alcohol, particularly whiskey, which the governor has admitted to consuming in the early hours of the day. Shaibu stated that if Wike had truly suffered from poisoning and organ failure, he should have become abstinent and cut down on his drinking habits.
Shaibu emphasized the potential health risks associated with excessive alcohol consumption, including high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, liver disease, digestive problems, and various forms of cancer. He also mentioned other ailments such as weakened immune system, learning and memory problems, and poor sexual performance that can result from excessive drinking. Shaibu questioned whether Wike's hoarse and husky voice, which has been observed on numerous occasions, could also be attributed to food poisoning if that was indeed the cause of his alleged poisoning.
In conclusion, Shaibu suggested that Wike should reflect on his own habits and make necessary adjustments. He highlighted the well-known health risks associated with excessive alcohol consumption and proposed that Wike's condition might have been a result of alcohol poisoning rather than food poisoning.
