Before the inauguration ceremony took place, Aisha Yesufu openly rejected Tinubu as her new president and voiced her support for Mr. Peter Obi, who ran as a candidate from the Labour Party. In a tweet, she emphatically stated, "Peter Gregory Obi is my President!" Along with her statement, she shared a picture that displayed her unwavering support for Obi.

Following the inauguration, Aisha Yesufu responded to a news headline regarding US President Joe Biden congratulating Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan but not extending the same gesture to Tinubu. In her tweet, she expressed her perspective on democracy, stating, "Democracy is not about who was voted in. It is about whether someone was voted in." She compared Erdogan, whom she referred to as a dictator, to Tinubu, whom she accused of stealing the people's mandate through rigging and violence, labeling him an impostor.

The statements made by Aisha Yesufu have ignited debate and further intensified the already contentious political climate in Nigeria. Her vocal support for Peter Obi and her rejection of Tinubu as the legitimate president have fueled discussions on social media and in political circles, reflecting the deep divisions within the country.
