An admission seeker by the name of Sodiq Oladebo has made allegations against members of the Nigeria Police Force, accusing them of extorting N20,000 from him and other passengers. The incident occurred on Saturday while Oladebo and his fellow travelers were traveling from Osun to Benin, Edo State.

According to Oladebo, their vehicle was stopped at a checkpoint where police officers proceeded to search their bags. Despite finding nothing incriminating, the officers allegedly resorted to intimidation tactics, demanding a payment of N100,000 or threatening to take Oladebo to the police station.

Distressed by the situation, Oladebo explained that the N99,000 he had in his Palm Pay application was intended to be used for purchasing an Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) form, a requirement for his university admission. After a heated exchange with the police officers, a compromise was reached, and they settled for N20,000 from Oladebo.

The amount was immediately transferred to a Point-of-Sale operator named Delight Enterprise, as evidenced by a screenshot of the receipt, which displayed the transaction time of 11:34 am on Saturday. Despite the transaction, Oladebo stated that the police officers still have his money in their possession.

Expressing his frustration, Oladebo revealed that the police officers involved in the incident were four in number and were traveling in a black Hilux van. He narrated the events, stating that the officers checked the front passenger and then asked him to disembark from the vehicle to identify his luggage. They searched his belongings and phone but found nothing incriminating. They noticed the N99,000 in his Palm Pay application and demanded a hefty payment unless he wanted to be taken to the police station.

Oladebo complied and transferred the money to a Point-of-Sale operator called to the location by the officers. Afterward, they allowed him to proceed. However, his money remains in the possession of the police officers.
