Pere's statement came in response to Reno Omokri's support for President Bola Tinubu's announcement regarding the removal of fuel subsidies.

Taking to his social media page, Pere shared his observations from a recent visit to Ghana. He highlighted that Ghana, as an oil-producing nation like Nigeria, does not offer cheap petrol and does not subsidize it either. Petrol (Premium Motor Spirit) in Ghana costs GH₵13.2 per liter at the official rate, equivalent to ₦550. Pere emphasized that Ghana's lack of fuel subsidy allows them to allocate funds to other essential sectors such as continuous electricity supply, quality education, and well-equipped healthcare facilities.

"We can't be squandering our national wealth on an unsustainable fuel subsidy, primarily benefiting urban residents with multiple cars, and then wonder why we face infrastructure deficits," Pere expressed.

He further noted the progress made in Lagos, Kaduna, and Abuja with the implementation of trains and commercial buses, suggesting that other states should follow suit. Pere also advocated for the government to encourage and support Nigerians who cannot afford the new fuel prices to explore environmentally friendly alternatives like bicycles.

In response to Reno's tweet, Pere disagreed with the notion that Nigerian politicians are similar to their Ghanaian counterparts. He argued that unlike Nigerian politicians, Ghanaian politicians are not "callous and disgusting". Pere labeled Nigerian politicians as "big time thieves", while acknowledging that Ghanaian politicians engage in corruption as well, but somehow manage to accomplish their responsibilities.
