A woman who arrived in Nigeria from the UK died in a car accident while on her way to collect N5 million from a debtor

A heartbreaking incident unfolded as a young Nigerian woman who had relocated abroad tragically lost her life in a car accident while en route to retrieve N5 million from a debtor in Nigeria. The sorrowful story was shared on Twitter by a user known as @Dagbofather, who narrated the account of his friend's unfortunate fate. The two friends had embarked on their journey to the UK together, but while one successfully settled down, the woman faced struggles in her new environment.
In an effort to secure her financial stability, the woman decided to sell her SUV in Nigeria and anticipated receiving the owed N5 million from a debtor. However, her hopes were shattered when she met with a fatal car accident shortly after her arrival in Nigeria. @Dagbofather revealed that his friend had become stranded in the UK and eventually found accommodation with a Nigerian woman who was living with her children but without her husband. The woman offered her a place to stay but requested assistance with dropping off and picking up her children from school as a condition.
Despite her dire circumstances, the woman persistently contacted the debtor in Abuja to settle the outstanding debt. @Dagbofather advised her to sell her SUV as a temporary solution, but unfortunately, her sister couldn't manage to sell it in time. Frustrated, she resorted to threatening the debtor, informing them of her intention to personally collect the money owed. She confided in @Dagbofather that the debt amounted to N5 million.
In a tragic turn of events, the woman contacted @Dagbofather one night, seeking shelter at his place. She explained that her landlady had forbidden her from using the heater, despite the harsh cold weather. Concerned for her well-being, @Dagbofather accommodated her. However, upon visiting her residence, he noticed that the landlady seemed constantly irritable, while he himself remained supportive.
Determined to claim her money and sell her car, the woman booked a flight back to Nigeria. Despite @Dagbofather's attempts to persuade her to reconsider and take a more cautious approach, she remained steadfast in her decision. They departed from Cardiff together, with @Dagbofather heading towards Southampton and the woman heading to London. He received a call from her at Heathrow, and that proved to be their final conversation.
Engrossed in his work in Southampton, @Dagbofather didn't initially comprehend the woman's complaints about the heat, given that she had recently left Nigeria. He assured her that he would call her back. Tragically, he never heard from her again. Instead, he received news from another friend informing him of her untimely demise in a car accident. The woman had set off in her SUV to meet the debtor but lost control of the vehicle, causing it to somersault into a ditch, ultimately claiming her life. In a cruel twist, everything she had hoped for—a functioning car, the debt payment, and her own life—had been tragically taken away. 
@Dagbofather expressed deep sorrow and shared his poignant reflections on the abrupt end to their friendship. The rapidity with which their connection developed, the intensity of their experiences together, and the sudden loss of life left him in profound disbelief. He lamented the reality that a person can be here one moment and gone the next, leaving nothing behind but memories. He concluded his tribute with a heartfelt farewell, bidding Mariam, the deceased, to rest in peace, acknowledging that a year had already passed since her passing.
