Samuel Machuka, a 91-year-old man who disappeared from his home in search of greener pastures, has finally returned after an astonishing 50 years. Despite the passage of time, he arrived back with only a walking stick as his sole possession.

Machuka's journey began when he left his home, driven by the desire to find better opportunities in life. He ventured out and eventually found work as a casual laborer on a farm located in Wote, Makueni County. For half a century, he toiled and survived, far away from his family and the life he once knew.

Through the assistance of the Provincial Administration, Machuka was able to reconnect with his family in Masabo village, Nyaribari Masaba Kisii. Although the passing years had changed his appearance to the point where only a few of his peers recognized him, his family was overjoyed to welcome him back into their embrace.

In a surprising revelation, Machuka shared that he had entered into three informal marriages during his time away, but he had no information about the whereabouts of his wives. His elderly uncles, who had tirelessly searched for him in vain, expressed immense relief at his return and pledged their support in helping him settle back into his homeland.

In a generous gesture, Machuka's uncles offered him a portion of the family land on which he could build a house. They also mentioned that any woman with his children would be warmly welcomed to live with him. This display of familial unity and support brought a sense of comfort to the returning elder.

Makomba, Machuka's nephew, expressed deep gratitude to the Provincial Administration for their invaluable assistance. He emphasized that, as Seventh Day Adventist Christians, they would not partake in any elaborate rituals upon Machuka's return but would instead extend a warm and heartfelt welcome, allowing him the space and time to settle back into his familiar surroundings.
