Philip Solomon, a 17-year-old student from Oyemekun Grammar School in Akure, Ondo State, has made an incredible accomplishment by earning the prestigious title of Guinness World Record holder. He achieved this feat by accomplishing the highest number of skips on one foot within a 30-second timeframe.
On January 24, Solomon showcased his exceptional skills and determination by successfully completing an astonishing 153 skips on a single foot in just 30 seconds. This outstanding performance surpassed the previous record of 145 skips held by Rasel Islam from Bangladesh.
After a meticulous four-month verification process, Solomon's achievement was officially recognized and acknowledged on Tuesday as he secured his well-deserved place in the Guinness World Records.
The Guinness World Records website stated, "Solomon drew inspiration from the previous record holder, Rasel Islam, after watching a video of his record attempt. He dedicated himself to training tirelessly in order to achieve this remarkable record, and he had the privilege of participating in a skipping world championship as well."
Following the footsteps of his fellow student Gbenga Ezekiel from Ijapo High School in Akure, Solomon, who attends the same school, has further contributed to Nigeria's collection of Guinness World Records in rope skipping.
In February, Ezekiel accomplished an impressive world record by achieving the highest number of skips on one leg in one minute, totaling an astonishing 265 skips. This remarkable accomplishment served as a motivation for Solomon, a senior secondary school three student, to embark on his own journey towards breaking a record.
