Ejikeme Joy, a brilliant student of Anglican Girls Secondary School (AGSS) Nnewi, Anambra state, has emerged as the overall best student in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with an impressive aggregate score of 362. She obtained outstanding scores in all her subjects, with 98% in English Language, 89% in Physics, 94% in Biology, and 81% in Chemistry.

Her remarkable performance has garnered praise from the Commissioner of Education in Anambra state, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, who described her performance as “excellent and very outstanding”. The state government also commended her feat, with a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Charles Soludo, Christian Aburime, stating that Ejikeme's exceptional achievement brought joy and celebration to her school and the entire Anambra state. Her teachers, parents, and fellow students were elated and proud of her accomplishments.

The statement from the Governor's office emphasized the state's investment in education and its priority under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo. The government pledged to monitor Ejikeme's academic progress as she pursues whatever career she desires.
