Adam Armstrong fired Southampton back into the Premier League, sealing a 1-0 win over Leeds United in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.
Armstrong’s decisive strike in the 24th minute, was also his 24th goal of the season.
Despite a strong start from Leeds, Southampton were the ones who capitalized on their chances.
Armstrong’s cool finish, following a defense-splitting pass from Will Smallbone, was enough to outmaneuver Daniel Farke’s side, who have never won promotion via the play-offs in six attempts.

Southampton, known for their possession style of play, managed the game well despite having less of the ball.
Leeds had their moments, including an early chance from Archie Gray, who made history as Leeds’ youngest player at 18, to feature at Wembley.
It was followed by a late effort from Dan James that struck the crossbar.
However, they were unable to break down a strong Southampton side that crawled their way back to the Premier League.
