Bayern Munich has officially announced that coach Thomas Tuchel will part ways with the club at the conclusion of the current season, one year ahead of the original contract term. The decision, a result of amicable discussions between Tuchel and Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, is aimed at facilitating a sporting realignment with a new coach set to take charge for the 2024–25 season.
Dreesen emphasized the club’s commitment to maximizing success in both the Champions League and the Bundesliga until the season's end. Meanwhile, Tuchel expressed his dedication to ensuring Bayern achieves the highest level of success throughout the remainder of his tenure.
This decision comes at a crucial juncture for Bayern, as there is a looming possibility of not securing silverware for the first time in many years, sparking discussions about a potential squad overhaul in the upcoming summer.
Reportedly, Bayern's top choice to succeed Tuchel is Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso, with Hansi Flick and Zinedine Zidane also being considered as potential successors. Despite being on Bayern’s radar, Flick has reiterated his lack of interest in the Bayern job, despite persistent links.
