Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman emerged as the heroes for Nigeria in a challenging encounter against Ghana during a friendly match held in Marrakesh, Morocco.
Dessers opened the scoring for the Super Eagles in the first half, converting a penalty in the 38th minute to give Nigeria the lead.
In the second half, Finidi George's team faced pressure from the Ghanaian side as they sought an equalizer.
Ghana's hopes took a blow when Jerome Opoku received a red card in the 56th minute, reducing them to ten men.
Nigeria extended their lead with a well-taken goal by Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman, just six minutes before the end of regular time.
However, Ghana managed to pull one back in added time, as Crystal Palace's Jordan Ayew found the net.
Despite Ayew's late effort, it wasn't enough to change the outcome for Ghana, marking their first defeat to Nigeria in a friendly since 2014.
The match also served as coach Finidi George's debut in charge of the Super Eagles.
