Nigeria secured the second spot in Group B at the ongoing Women’s World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand, after a goalless draw with Republic of Ireland on July 31.
In the first half, the Super Falcons faced difficulty breaking through the Irish defensive line, and Asisat Oshoala, their lone striker, had limited opportunities.
During the second half, Nigeria intensified their efforts, seeking a goal to secure the top position in the group.
Courtney Brosnan, the Irish goalkeeper, made a spectacular save in the 51st minute, denying Uchenna Kanu's powerful header.
With the draw, the Super Falcons secured a spot in the round of 16. Nigeria, ranked 40th in the world, remained undefeated in all three group-stage matches, including a surprising 3-2 victory over Australia.
They will now face the top team in Group D, which is likely to be European champions England.
