According to reports, AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho has been considered as a potential alternative to Carlo Ancelotti for the vacant coaching position for the Brazil national team. The position has been empty since Tite resigned following the team's loss to Croatia in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
Although Ancelotti is the front-runner for the job, The Athletic reported that the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has listed Mourinho as an alternative option in case their pursuit of Ancelotti is unsuccessful. It was also noted that Ancelotti, who has a contract with Real Madrid until 2024, has requested to delay any discussions until the end of the ongoing season.
The CBF has also shortlisted other candidates for the role, including Fenerbahce manager Jorge Jesus, Fluminense head coach Fernando Diniz, and Palmeiras' Abel Ferreira.
