Millwall has announced the unfortunate passing of its owner, John Berylson, at the age of 70, as a result of a tragic accident.

In a statement released on Tuesday night, the Championship club revealed that John Berylson, an American businessman, left behind his wife, Amy, and their three children, Jennifer, James, and Elizabeth. No further details were provided regarding the nature of the tragic accident involving the Millwall owner.

John Berylson became involved with Millwall in 2006 and assumed the position of chairman in October 2007. He is credited with overseeing a highly successful period in the club's history, which included Millwall's participation in the Championship playoffs last season.

Millwall released a statement following the owner's passing:

"It is with deep regret and a collective broken heart that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved owner and chairman, John Berylson.

"John, who celebrated his 70th birthday last month, lost his life in a tragic accident on Tuesday morning. Our thoughts are with his wife Amy, their three children - Jennifer, James, and Elizabeth - and the entire Berylson family during this difficult time.

"John's sudden and tragic departure will undoubtedly have a profound impact on all those fortunate enough to have known him. He was an extraordinary man, deeply devoted to his family, and possessed remarkable generosity, warmth, and kindness.

"John lived a remarkable life, filled with joy and vibrancy, and he consistently displayed thoughtfulness towards others, always eager to share his vast knowledge and experience to assist people.

"Under John's passionate leadership and guidance, Millwall Football Club has experienced tremendous success and stability. Since his involvement with the club in 2006, he has overseen some of Millwall's greatest moments, and his impact in providing the foundation for these achievements cannot be overstated. John remained enthusiastic about the upcoming season and had a clear vision for the future. Any future success will serve as a tribute to his memory and legacy.

"John deeply embraced the underdog mentality and values that define Millwall. He shared a strong connection with these principles and cherished the club's supporters. He was fiercely loyal to his staff, and they, along with the fanbase, will feel an immeasurable loss in his absence.
