With the potential departure of Harry Maguire looming, Manchester United is in need of a new center-back, and Kim Min-jae has emerged as a primary target. The 26-year-old South Korean, who was named Serie A Defender of the Year, played a crucial role in Napoli's triumph in the Italian top-flight league, securing their first title in 33 years.

Apart from Manchester United, Newcastle United has also expressed interest in the highly sought-after defender. Kim Min-jae joined Napoli from Fenerbahce last July and played a crucial role in their Serie A title success. Should Manchester United fail to secure Kim's services, they are reportedly monitoring the French market as a backup plan. Kim previously played in South Korea, China, and Turkey before moving to Italy in 2022.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Kim Min-jae has a unique release clause of €60 million (£52 million) in his contract with Napoli. However, this release clause can only be activated between July 1 and July 15, restricting clubs to acquire him at that price during a strict two-week window.

Prominent journalist Fabrizio Romano shared the news on Twitter, stating that Manchester United had Kim Min-jae on their list since October and continue to view him as their primary target. He also mentioned that Newcastle United is aware of the situation. Romano added that Manchester United is exploring alternative options in the French market as well.
