The match got off to a rocky start for Bayern as Joshua Kimmich received a red card just four minutes into the game, leaving them with 10 men. However, the tables quickly turned in their favor as Darmstadt faced their own challenges, with both Klaus Gjasula and Matej Maglica receiving red cards within the first 41 minutes of the match. This set a new record for the Bundesliga's opening half with the most red cards ever shown.

Despite the early challenges, both teams ended the first half on level footing. However, the second half turned into a goal-scoring extravaganza for Bayern, with Kane finding the back of the net in the 51st minute. Leroy Sane doubled the lead in the 56th minute, and Jamal Musiala added a third goal in the 60th minute.

Sane continued his scoring spree with another goal in the 64th minute, and Kane displayed his brilliance once more with a second strike in the 69th minute. Darmstadt's defense crumbled as they conceded their sixth goal just two minutes later, courtesy of Thomas Muller, while Musiala secured a seventh goal in the 76th minute. Bayern didn't show any mercy as Kane completed his hat-trick in the 88th minute, marking his second treble for the club as they sealed an emphatic 8-0 victory.
