Super Eagles star, Taiwo Awoniyi, swiftly put Nottingham Forest ahead by scoring just two minutes and 23 seconds into the game. Awoniyi headed in a cross from Serge Aurier, securing an early lead for Forest.
Impressively, this marked Awoniyi's sixth consecutive match with a goal for his team, tallying eight goals across this season and the previous one. Over the last 15 years, only Erling Haaland and Christian Benteke have accomplished such a feat.
In the first half, a speculative attempt by Vini Souza in the 34th minute was comfortably stopped by Forest's goalkeeper, Matt Turner, representing Sheffield United's best chance. Both teams had weak penalty appeals denied, and Aurier and Morgan Gibbs-White both fired over the crossbar in the closing moments of the half.
However, Sheffield United managed to equalize early in the second half through a beautifully curled shot by Hamer into the top corner of Matt Turner's net.

Although Steve Cooper's team believed they had regained the lead nine minutes later with Awoniyi's chip over Wes Foderingham, the goal was ruled offside.
The match took a thrilling turn when Nottingham Forest secured three points against Sheffield United. Chris Wood, a substitute, sealed the victory with a header past United's keeper Wes Foderingham, igniting celebration among the City Ground crowd.
Looking ahead, Nottingham Forest's next challenge is against Manchester United next Saturday. Meanwhile, Sheffield United, newly promoted and still without a point after two games, will face Manchester City, the reigning champions and noisy neighbors of the Red Devils, at Bramall Lane on August 27.
