Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has signed with Fiorentina after a year away from football.
The 33-year-old Spaniard has agreed to a one-year contract with the Serie A club, which includes an option for an additional season.
De Gea, who was previously earning £375,000 per week at Old Trafford, is believed to have accepted a significant pay cut to join Fiorentina.

His move marks a return to the pitch after being released by Manchester United in the summer of 2023, following the expiration of his contract.
The departure from Manchester United ended De Gea’s 12-year stint at the club, where he made 545 appearances and won several major trophies.
These include the Premier League, FA Cup, and two League Cups.
Despite interest from Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, De Gea remained without a club for the entirety of the 2023/24 season.
He was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson from Atletico Madrid in 2011, and quickly established himself as United’s first-choice goalkeeper.
