Former Barcelona and Brazilian footballer Dani Alves is reportedly poised to regain his freedom today (Monday) after fulfilling the required €1 million bail conditions for his release.
This development arises just weeks into Alves' serving a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence for a rape conviction stemming from an incident at a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022.
Alves, aged 40, has been granted provisional release pending the outcome of his appeal and has reportedly surrendered both his Spanish and Brazilian passports as per court directives.
Earlier reports from GistReel Sport indicated that Alves's family had been soliciting assistance to gather the necessary funds for his release due to difficulties accessing his bank accounts.
Alves had until the close of Monday (today) to meet the bail requirement, and it appears he has successfully done so. However, the victim's lawyer has criticized Alves's imminent release, denouncing it as "scandalous" and indicative of "justice for the rich."
