The match saw Chelsea take the lead in the 18th minute as Guro Reiten provided a precise cross for Australian international Sam Kerr to outmaneuver her defender and score with a header. Reiten herself found the back of the net in the 42nd minute, further extending Chelsea's advantage.

Kerr showcased her scoring prowess once again in the 88th minute, completing the rout and securing the Women's Super League title for Chelsea. This triumph comes just weeks after their FA Cup victory over Manchester United in a penalty shootout on May 14.

Meanwhile, Reading's defeat in this crucial encounter has resulted in their relegation to the second-tier Championship. After an eight-year stint in the top flight, which included a fourth-place finish in the 2017-18 season, Reading finished at the bottom of the 12-team league.

Although Manchester United emerged as Chelsea's main challengers throughout the season, their 1-0 victory over Liverpool was not enough to claim the title, as they fell two points short in the final standings.

Chelsea's dominance in English women's football remains evident, and their accomplishment of securing a fourth consecutive league crown is undoubtedly a remarkable achievement.
