Brentford has exercised the buy option clause to secure the services of 18-year-old Nigerian defender Benjamin Frederick, who was on loan. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Kaduna-based Simoiben Academy graduate will officially join The Bees as a permanent player until 2028. Romano tweeted, “Brentford trigger buy option to sign Nigerian talented defender Benjamin Frederick (18). Brentford decided to activate the option and sign him from Kaduna based Simoiben Academy, sources from Nigeria confirm. The contract will be valid until 2028.” Frederick, who also represents the Nigeria national under-20 team, initially joined Brentford B on loan from Nasarawa United in 2023. The centre-back's journey to professional football started at the Simoiben Football Academy, owned by Super Eagles’ star Moses Simon.
