Arsenal started the game with high expectations after last season's title bid and a strong recruitment drive over the summer. The match seemed like a comfortable win for Arsenal for most of the afternoon.

Gabriel's streak of 73 consecutive league starts for Arsenal ended as he was benched, with Thomas Partey shifted to right-back and Eddie Nketiah leading the attack. Matt Turner, who had just completed his move from Arsenal, started for Forest.

The kick-off was delayed by 30 minutes due to ticketing issues, causing thousands to be stuck outside the stadium.

Nottingham Forest had the first clear opportunity as Brennan Johnson was put through on goal against Aaron Ramsdale, but his shot went high and wide.

Arsenal took the lead through Nketiah after Martinelli's skillful play, and they doubled their lead with a fantastic finish from Saka.

Nottingham Forest managed to score a consolation goal shortly after Taiwo Awoniyi's entry in the 72nd minute. Anthony Elana provided the assist, and Awoniyi found the net at the near post. The goal added tension to the match, but Arsenal held off threats from Nottingham Forest to secure the win.
