The Gunners, who had recently secured a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, made only one change to their starting lineup for this fixture. Leandro Trossard came in to replace Gabriel Martinelli, aiming to bring fresh energy and creativity to the attack.

Brighton, on the other hand, faced some notable absences. New signing Ferdi Kadioglu was unavailable, and midfielder Matt O’Riley was sidelined due to a serious ankle injury sustained during their midweek win over Crawley Town. These absences meant Brighton had to adapt their tactics and lineup for this challenging away fixture.

Arsenal took the lead in the first half thanks to a superb piece of skill from Kai Havertz. The German international, who has been impressive since the start of the season, deftly lobbed the ball over Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, finding the back of the net and giving the Gunners a deserved lead.

The match took a significant turn in the second half when Declan Rice was shown a red card after receiving his second yellow card for delaying a Brighton free-kick. The dismissal left Arsenal with ten men, putting them under increased pressure from the visitors.

Brighton capitalized on their numerical advantage and equalized through Joao Pedro. The Brazilian forward managed to break through Arsenal’s defense, finishing with composure to level the score and give Brighton a foothold in the game.

Despite being a man down, Arsenal continued to pose a threat on the counter-attack. Both Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka had opportunities to restore Arsenal's lead but were unable to convert their chances into goals. The Gunners' attacking efforts fell short, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
