The highly anticipated squad numbers for the Super Eagles at the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast have been officially revealed, according to a report by Complete Sports.
Familiar faces in the team will retain their numbers, with Victor Osimhen continuing to don the coveted number 9 shirt, leading the team's offensive line. Notably, Joe Aribo is set to take on the iconic number 10 jersey, previously worn by the legendary Jay-Jay Okocha, and captain Ahmed Musa will retain his number 7 shirt.
Newcomer Alhassan Yusuf is set to don the number 4 jersey, a role previously held by Wilfred Ndidi, who unfortunately is sidelined due to injury. Additionally, Alex Iwobi has made a switch from number 18 to 17, while Samuel Chukwueze retains his number 11 shirt.
The Super Eagles, marking their 20th appearance in the tournament, will be led by coach Jose Peseiro as they aim to replicate the success of coach Stephen Keshi's team in 2013. The squad includes some notable changes, and this edition promises excitement as Nigeria is drawn into Group A alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.
