The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken a significant step in its pursuit of justice by declaring Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, as wanted. According to reports from GistReel, Bello failed to appear in court as scheduled for his arraignment on charges of alleged money laundering, prompting the EFCC to issue a warrant for his arrest.
Yahaya Bello, once a prominent figure in Kogi State politics, now faces serious allegations of financial misconduct totaling N80.2 billion. The EFCC, through its official Facebook page, has called upon Nigerians to assist in locating Bello, urging anyone with pertinent information about his whereabouts to contact the Commission or the nearest police station.
The pursuit of justice intensified when a coalition of law enforcement agencies, including the EFCC, Department of State Services (DSS), and the police, converged on Bello's residence in Abuja. However, despite the concerted effort to apprehend him, Bello managed to evade capture. Reports suggest that he was discreetly removed from the premises with the assistance of the current governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo.
This development underscores the gravity of the allegations against Yahaya Bello and highlights the determination of law enforcement agencies to hold individuals accountable for financial crimes. As the search for Bello continues, the EFCC remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the rule of law and combating corruption at all levels of society.
