Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has publicly declared his allegiance to President Bola Tinubu, identifying himself as a “proud agent” of the administration and reaffirming his commitment to executing the government’s agenda across the country.
He made the announcement during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of the Northern Parkway, a key road project that links Ring Road II to Ring Road III in Abuja. The ceremony, held on Friday, drew the presence of senior government officials, party stakeholders, community leaders, and residents from various parts of the Federal Capital Territory.

During his address, Wike described his ministerial role not only as a routine administrative position but also as a critical responsibility to support the president’s mission of national reconstruction and sustainable development. He emphasized that the work being done under the Tinubu administration is a direct contribution to the long-term growth and stability of Nigeria.
“Nigeria inherited serious problems”
Wike highlighted that the Tinubu administration assumed office at a time when the country was grappling with deep-rooted economic, social, and infrastructural challenges left unresolved by previous governments. He pointed out that these systemic issues require careful planning, long-term reforms, and the patience of citizens to allow policies to take effect meaningfully.
He acknowledged that many Nigerians hoped for immediate solutions to the country’s problems, but reminded the public that sustainable recovery and development cannot happen overnight. He urged Nigerians to recognize the scale of challenges the president inherited and to appreciate the deliberate efforts being made to address them.
In particular, Wike cited ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Northern Parkway, as tangible evidence of the government’s commitment to visible progress. He said these projects symbolize a broader agenda of modernization and demonstrate the administration’s dedication to improving the quality of life for ordinary citizens.
Proud to serve Tinubu’s agenda
Describing himself as “a very proud agent” of President Tinubu, Wike stated that his duties include ensuring that government policies and initiatives are effectively implemented. He stressed that the president has shown unwavering commitment to the welfare of Nigerians, even when difficult or unpopular decisions are required.
The FCT minister further emphasized that those serving in the administration, including himself, are ready to withstand public scrutiny and criticism as long as it contributes to meaningful national progress. He noted that every member of Tinubu’s team has a role to play as an “agent of change,” tasked with translating campaign promises into actionable outcomes that positively impact citizens.
Wike also highlighted that loyalty to the administration is rooted in confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership abilities and vision for the nation. He assured Nigerians that members of the government are fully committed to executing the president’s directives and ensuring that reforms are implemented with transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
Call for citizens’ support
Wike appealed to Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of the government’s reform agenda. He acknowledged the challenges and frustrations facing the public, particularly concerning the economy, but encouraged citizens to trust in the administration’s long-term plans and infrastructure programs that are designed to yield sustainable benefits.
He detailed that the government’s focus remains on three main pillars: infrastructure development, security enhancement, and social welfare improvements. While projects in Abuja represent only a portion of the administration’s overall initiatives, Wike assured that similar interventions are being planned and executed across the nation to ensure equitable development.
Concluding his speech, Wike emphasized that national progress is a shared responsibility between the government and the citizens. He reinforced his dedication to the Tinubu administration, stating: “We are proud agents of Mr President, and we will not disappoint Nigerians.” He urged the public to stand in solidarity with the government, promising that the combined efforts of leaders and citizens would lead to measurable results that improve the nation’s social, economic, and infrastructural landscape.
