President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to immortalize the late former President Muhammadu Buhari by constructing what he described as a symbolic “House of Joy and Prosperity” in his honour, as part of efforts to uphold Buhari’s enduring legacy in Nigeria’s democratic and developmental journey.

Tinubu made this declaration on Tuesday during a solidarity visit paid to him at the State House, Abuja, by the Buhari Organisation (TBO). The delegation was led by the former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, who also served as a close political ally of Buhari and remains a respected voice within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The visit by the influential TBO, which represents the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc within the APC, carried significant political weight as the group formally endorsed President Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. The endorsement reaffirms Tinubu’s political base and strengthens his support ahead of future contests.

Speaking during the visit, Senator Al-Makura assured Tinubu of the group’s unwavering loyalty and solidarity. “We are with you in loyalty, in person, and in purpose. May Almighty God grant you the wisdom and strength to continue leading our nation,” he said, noting that the ideals of Buhari and Tinubu remain deeply connected by their joint vision for Nigeria’s progress.

He further praised both Tinubu and Buhari as visionary leaders who laid a strong foundation for justice, sovereignty, and effective governance. “Mr. President, you and President Muhammadu Buhari shared more than a political alliance; you shared a vision of a Nigeria built on justice, economic sovereignty, and good governance. Together, you conceptualised and built a platform that remains our pride and our cause,” Al-Makura emphasized.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, who was also present at the event, highlighted the loyalty of the CPC bloc, noting that more than 90 percent of its pioneer members still remain faithful to the ideals they built under Buhari. “Today marks the very first time that former members of the CPC have gathered in such large numbers to pay a visit to our President. I assure you of our unconditional support,” Abbas added, reaffirming the group’s total commitment to Tinubu’s administration.

Responding to his visitors, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s focus on ensuring economic stability, fiscal discipline, and food security. He revealed that Nigeria had already surpassed its 2025 national revenue target as of August, eliminating the need for further borrowing. “Nigeria is not borrowing. We have met our revenue target for the year, and we met it in August,” he said confidently.

Tinubu also spoke on the positive outlook in the foreign exchange market, citing significant progress since he assumed office. “The economy is stabilised; nobody is trading pieces of paper for exchange rate anymore. When I took over, it was N1,900 to a dollar. It’s N1,450 now. Rates have been stabilising,” the President explained, presenting the figures as evidence of Nigeria’s economic recovery under his leadership.

On agriculture, Tinubu unveiled an ambitious plan to establish farm mechanisation centres in every region of the country as part of his broader agenda for food sovereignty. “Our path to food security is clear. Every region will have a mechanised farm centre. We are committed to removing poverty from our land, and that is the work we have already started,” he said, stressing that agriculture would remain central to his administration’s fight against hunger and unemployment.

Turning to the legacy of his predecessor, Tinubu vowed that the contributions of Muhammadu Buhari would not be forgotten. He praised Buhari for his honesty, transparency, and commitment to justice, promising that these values would remain guiding principles of his government. “Part of what we inherited from Buhari was his honesty, transparency, and justice. You won’t have anything less than that. We will definitely put something together to build a Buhari House; that house will be a house of joy and prosperity,” Tinubu declared, receiving loud applause from his guests.

The event ended with renewed pledges of loyalty, as members of the TBO and CPC bloc vowed to continue working with President Tinubu in pursuit of a united, stable, and prosperous Nigeria. The meeting not only highlighted the continuity of Buhari’s influence but also positioned Tinubu as the torchbearer of a shared legacy rooted in patriotism, economic sovereignty, and national development.
