President Bola Tinubu has carried out a significant reshuffle in his administration by nominating Bianca Ojukwu for a key ministerial position, while simultaneously dismissing six Ministers from his cabinet. The move is seen as part of the President’s ongoing efforts to inject fresh energy and vision into his team, as well as to address the nation's growing concerns across various sectors.
In the wake of this cabinet overhaul, Tinubu has also submitted seven ministerial nominees to the National Assembly, in a bid to fill the newly vacant roles. The reshuffle marks a critical juncture in his leadership, with new faces poised to take on significant portfolios in his administration.
Tinubu’s nomination of Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs is seen as a strategic decision to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic relations. Alongside her appointment, Nentawe Yilwatda has been named the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, officially ending the tenure of the suspended Minister, Betta Edu.
This reshuffling within Tinubu's administration is intended to bring new perspectives and skills to the government, with the aim of enhancing the overall efficiency and responsiveness of the President’s team. The newly appointed ministers are expected to play crucial roles in addressing pressing challenges and furthering the nation's development agenda.
The six ministers who have been removed from their posts include Prof. Tahir Mamman, who served as Minister of Education, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye from Women Affairs, Mohammed Gwarzo, who was the Minister of State for Housing, Jamila Ibrahim from Youth Development, Lola Ade-John from Tourism, and the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, who has now been officially replaced.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, made these announcements while briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which was presided over by President Tinubu at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, in Abuja.
In addition to the aforementioned changes, Tinubu also nominated Maigari Dingyadi to serve as the Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole as the Minister of Industry, Idi Maiha as Minister for the newly created Livestock Development Ministry, Yusuf Ata as the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad as Minister of State for Education. These appointments are intended to ensure that key sectors of the economy are adequately managed and guided by capable hands.
