President Bola Tinubu has conveyed assurance to Nigerians that his administration is committed to reforming the country for enhanced efficiency, emphasizing fairness and equity across all aspects of national life.
Addressing Afenifere leaders at Pa Reuben Fasoranti's residence in Akure, President Tinubu acknowledged the current economic challenges facing Nigeria but expressed confidence in the nation's ability to overcome, assuring that there is a promising light at the end of the tunnel.
Speaking on the economic front, Tinubu emphasized his commitment to meeting Nigeria's obligations to the international community, asserting that the country has not defaulted on its financial commitments and will continue on a path to prosperity, navigating the challenges along the way.
Regarding reforms, Tinubu outlined his focus on fiscal and true federalism, advocating for a broad-based manifestation of the philosophy of “what’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.”
Acknowledging the support of Nigerians during tough economic times, he assured that their patience and perseverance would not be in vain, recognizing the temporary nature of the challenges faced.
Reflecting on his past experiences as the former governor of Lagos State, Tinubu highlighted the resilience needed to navigate tough conditions, citing the transformation of Lagos into the fifth largest economy in Africa.
Expressing determination to re-engineer the country's finances and curb selfish interests permanently, Tinubu emphasized the need to manage the current economic moment with wisdom and foster responsible growth for Nigeria.
Pa Olu Falae, speaking on behalf of Afenifere, commended Tinubu’s commitment to Nigeria’s progress, acknowledging the President's return to the place where prayers were offered for his leadership. Falae urged Tinubu to continue being fair and courageous, values emblematic of the Afenifere family.
