The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, who is also known as Jandor, have accused Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos state governor-elect, of having a fake GCE result. According to reports, the PDP and Jandor submitted a petition before the Lagos governorship election petition tribunal, in which they asked the tribunal to disqualify Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and nullify his governorship victory over an alleged fake GCE result.
The petition states that during Sanwo-Olu's first term election as governor of Lagos state, he submitted a statement of result issued by Ijebu Ife Community Grammar School for May/June 1981 GCE O'Level examination with examination number 17624/118. However, when Jandor and the PDP approached the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for confirmation, they were directed to purchase a scratch card for verification of the WAEC result. The result from the scratch card allegedly confirmed that the result was not emanating from WAEC and was, in fact, a fake result.
It remains to be seen how this accusation will affect the legitimacy of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's victory in the Lagos state governorship election.
