Peter Obi, [/b]the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, has firmly stated that Nigerians will no longer accept any form of election cheating as the Edo State gubernatorial election [/b]approaches.
Speaking at the grand finale rally for Olumide Akpata, the LP candidate for the governorship, which was held in Benin on Wednesday, Peter Obi made a significant statement.
“Election rigging is coming to an end in this country. This time around, anyone who rigs election, we will rig him,” he declared, emphasizing the importance of integrity in the electoral process.
Obi took the opportunity to highlight the daily struggles faced by Nigerians and criticized state governors who shift their responsibilities onto the federal government, thereby neglecting their duties to the citizens. He assured the gathered crowd that Akpata would not follow that detrimental path.
Furthermore, the leader of the Labour Party called upon security services and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the election this Saturday is conducted in a manner that is credible, fair, and free from any form of malpractice.
He urged the people of Edo State to turn out in large numbers to vote for both Akpata and his running mate, Yusuf Kadiri, in order to secure a decisive victory.
Obi’s running mate for the 2023 presidential race, Datti Baba-Ahmed, echoed this sentiment, encouraging all Labour Party members and supporters to leverage their numerical strength to ensure their candidate's success at the polls.
