The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Adeboye shared during a sermon at the church’s headquarters that he was investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after he purchased a private jet. He clarified that the purpose of acquiring the jet was not for personal pleasure but for the work of the gospel, which had expanded to the level that commercial travel was not feasible. He explained that commercial travel would not allow him to keep up with his schedule, which involves ministering to different countries, dedicating churches, and ordaining pastors. He narrated an example of how he finished a program in Spain at midnight, headed straight to the airport, and traveled to Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and Papua New Guinea, ministering and dedicating churches in each location before returning for the next Holy Ghost Service. He noted that it was impossible to achieve all that with commercial travel, hence the need for the private jet. According to him, officials of the anti-graft agency came after him following the purchase of the private jet, questioning the source of funds for the acquisition. The revered clergyman also shared that he has completed building a new auditorium for the church, which is billed to be one of the largest in the world when completed. He urged the congregation to continue to support the work of God and the vision of the church. A video of his sermon is provided below.
