The Nigerian army has reportedly detained a soldier whose video complaining about inadequate funds to visit home after years on the war front went viral.
As previously covered by Gistreel, the soldier, stationed in Maiduguri, shared his plight, revealing he couldn't afford the inflated transport costs, forcing him to return to the war zone.
Expressing frustration over the high transport fares, the soldier disclosed his inability to manage a round trip on his salary.
However, the Nigerian army responded by detaining the soldier on charges of bringing embarrassment to the military through his video.

Reactions to the post:
@IK101_ commented: "This should tell others in that horrible entity how much they're valued & what their next cause of action should be."
@DanielRegha expressed: "Trying to silence an officer for crying out is nothing but tyranny. Nigerian soldiers should be earning more than N50,000, especially with the situation of things. These people risk their lives daily, while politicians who practically do nothing make millions. This is shamfu!."
@ChubieUjah reacted: "Gosh 🤦🏾♂️ but he didn't even criticize anyone, he only lamented about his reality."
@_iRoyalty_ added: "I knew this was going to happen…They'd discipline the life out of him and send him to the war front to die. It's the typical 'suffer and smile' seen in the Nigerian Military."
@Roseangel009 commented: "What a country! There is freedom of speech we claim, but freedom after speech is not guaranteed in Nigeria."
