During the event, Jega emphasized the critical need for patriotic Nigerians to take action against this trend by working to restore faith and optimism in Nigeria’s future. He highlighted that the current challenges faced by the country, such as being labeled the poverty capital of the world and the increasing departure of its talented youth, collectively referred to as the “Japa” phenomenon, are particularly alarming.

He stated, “This trend symbolizes a dangerous loss of hope, one that dedicated patriots must counter by restoring faith in the country’s future.” Jega reflected on Nigeria’s past, recalling a time in the post-independence era when the country was viewed as a beacon of hope across Africa, inspiring Black communities worldwide. He lauded the selfless leadership exhibited during the First Republic, which contributed to this positive perception.

Jega further urged Nigerians to reject the narrative that depicts the nation as a failed state. He asserted, “We must reject the narrative of a failed state and work to reform our systems, to bridge divisions, and to build a nation that serves all its citizens.” His call to action resonates with many who are eager for change and improvement in Nigeria’s socio-political landscape, as he advocates for unity and proactive efforts to uplift the nation.

As the discussion unfolds, Jega’s remarks serve as a poignant reminder of the challenges facing Nigeria and the urgent need for collective action to create a more hopeful and prosperous future for all its citizens.
