Senator George Akume has officially taken office as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) during a swearing-in ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The oath of office was administered by President Bola Tinubu in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the SGF's wife, Regina, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. FolasadeYemi-Esan.
Following the ceremony, Akume expressed his gratitude for the appointment and pledged to dedicate his utmost efforts towards the success of the administration.

Also present at the ceremony were the governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hycent Alia, as well as several current and former governors, including Tanko Almakura from Nasarawa state and the immediate past SGF, Boss Mustapha.
Boss Mustapha CFR, born in 1956, is a Nigerian lawyer and politician who previously held the position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) from 2017 to 2023. He also served as the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
