As part of the agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari to bring down the high rate of unemployment in the country, Festus Keyamo (SAN), the Minister of State for Labour and Employment has noted that the Federal Government has agreed to pay the sum of N20,000 to unemployed youths in order to for them to maintain public and social infrastructures in the country.
The activities the youths will be engaged in reads thus; clearing of drainages, sweeping markets, road maintenance, traffic control, and cleaning of public infrastructures like health centres and schools.
Festus Keyamo then further noted that the program is brought up to reduce lack of job opportunities in the rural areas through a short period of time and would engage at least 1,000 unemployed persons per local government area over a period of three months.
Keyamo added that participants will be paid a fee of 20,000 Naira monthly and are to be recruited largely from the pool of unskilled persons resident in rural areas.
