Up-and-coming Nigerian artist, Bobo Dee, accuses the well-known singer Portable of appropriating his song lyrics in Portable's latest track, sparking controversy in the music industry.
Bobo Dee's claims emerged through a video he shared on social media, where he expressed dismay over the alleged theft of his lyrics by Portable.
In the video, Bobo Dee lamented, "Why did Portable steal my lyrics when he calls himself a legend? Boss, I need your help; Portable has stolen my song."
He narrated how he had originally sung a song featuring specific lyrics, only for Portable to incorporate the same lyrics into his own new release, leaving Bobo Dee feeling frustrated and disheartened.
Bobo Dee firmly stated, "Later, you’ll claim that I have copied you. Look, Portable, I’m not like those whose lyrics you steal. I released a song with lyrics like ‘OBO Lekki faraki, OBO abeokuta pa okuta,’ and you used it in your song, what’s going on?"
He further emphasized the seriousness of the issue, highlighting Portable's hypocrisy in accusing others of song theft while engaging in similar actions himself.
Accompanying the allegation were several videos showcasing the moment Bobo Dee originally sang the song and evidence of Portable using the exact lyrics in his new track, providing substantial support for Bobo Dee's claims.
