It is no longer news that the award-winning cinematographer has been battling with kidney disease, a condition that has greatly affected not only his career but also his finances. TG Omori, who is widely celebrated for his creativity and innovative touch in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, revealed that the amount he has spent so far on medical care could have comfortably bought him two brand-new Mercedes-Benz GLE SUVs as well as a C300 luxury car.

Taking to social media to share his ordeal, Omori reflected on the reality of medical expenses in Nigeria and how the cost of surviving kidney-related illnesses like his is overwhelming, especially when compared to the income of the average Nigerian worker. He disclosed that the financial pressure brought him to tears during one of his hospital visits, as he considered the hopeless situation many others in similar conditions might face.

In his revelation, the director broke down the cost of his dialysis sessions, explaining that each treatment costs over ₦100,000. In severe cases, a patient might require up to three sessions in a week, pushing the weekly expense far beyond what an average Nigerian earns in a month. With the national minimum wage pegged at about ₦70,000, he questioned how ordinary people battling the same health condition could possibly survive without support.

Sharing his thoughts, Omori wrote …

“Saw my 6months health expenses, Omo 2 GLE and one small C300 bro! Health is wealth true true. Dialysis is about 100k plus per session, sometimes you need 3 sessions in a week, minimum wage is 70k. Knowing this facts brought me tears in the hospital cause no hope for the common man.”

Despite the challenges, TG Omori noted that he is determined to turn his pain into purpose. He revealed that he is currently working on his first major eyewear design, which will soon be available for sale. According to him, a portion of the proceeds from this project will go towards supporting individuals battling kidney disease who cannot afford the high cost of dialysis and treatment.

Fans, colleagues, and well-wishers have since flooded social media with prayers, support, and encouragement for the filmmaker, with many praising him not only for his courage in speaking up but also for his willingness to help others despite his personal struggles.
