Big Brother Naija alum Natacha Akide, widely known as Tacha, has labeled feminism in Nigeria as equivalent to witchcraft.
During an interview with Chude, she addressed her recent clash with Mummy Zee on Twitter, stemming from an earlier altercation after an interview on a podcast hosted by her colleague, Phyna.
Mummy Zee, known for her early morning routines, commented on Tacha, stating, “That one wey no get sense,” in response to a fan's complaint about Tacha making fun of her on a show.
Tacha responded vehemently on social media, expressing her displeasure at the woman's comment and deeming it insulting. The ensuing controversy prompted Tacha to address the matter during her interview with the renowned media personality, Chude Jideonwo.
In the interview, Tacha characterized Nigerian feminism as witchcraft and criticized feminists for contributing to discussions at what she deemed the wrong time. She explained, “So, I was praising this woman on my show, saying why was feminist trolling her because I love feminists then. I was like the feminism you people practiced in Nigeria is witchcraft because when you are supposed to come out you people won’t come out but for the wrong things, you just hate men in general. That’s not what I practiced.”
