A fresh update has emerged following the tragic death of Nigerian singer Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, popularly known as Patoranking, his sister, Chioma, and her husband, George O Buchi, who sadly passed away this week.
Earlier, Gistreel had reported on the heartbreaking event, which shocked many Nigerians and left a wave of sorrow across the nation. Instagram blogger Cutie Juls first broke the news, revealing that a gas explosion was initially thought to have caused the couple’s demise. It was said that the explosion happened in their home, leading to the unfortunate tragedy.
However, in a more recent update, film producer and media personality Seun Oloketuyi provided additional insights shared by Chioma’s close friend, Uchechi. According to Uchechi, on the tragic day of the incident, Chioma and George were upstairs enjoying a quiet afternoon with their three-year-old son, completely unaware of the danger that was about to unfold. Everything seemed peaceful until George suddenly detected a burning odor, which he found strange and alarming.
George, now on high alert, decided to investigate the source of the disturbing smell, and Chioma followed him closely as they left their son, who was soundly sleeping, upstairs. As they made their way to the door to determine where the unsettling scent was coming from, disaster struck. A loud explosion ripped through their home, severely burning George and sending him into a coma. Chioma also sustained significant burns but managed to maintain enough strength to call her friends and father for assistance before neighbors rushed them both to the hospital.
Despite her injuries, Chioma remained composed enough to take calls and speak to those close to her, showing signs of hope in the midst of the chaos. Unfortunately, that hope was tragically short-lived as Chioma succumbed to her injuries on August 30 at 7:38 PM, leaving her family and friends devastated by the sudden loss.
Further complicating the narrative, the initial assumption of a gas explosion has since been debunked. According to Seun Oloketuyi’s investigation, both the couple’s inverter battery and their gas cylinder were found to be intact and not the cause of the explosion. Additionally, their generator was located a considerable distance away from the main house, further ruling out a gas-related accident.
