[p]Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has made a heartfelt pledge to her late father-in-law, Odogwu Sylvester Edochie, following Yul Edochie's decision to embrace the tradition of polygamy.
Taking to her Instagram account, Rita Edochie shared a photograph of her late father-in-law and accompanied it with a post titled "Advice from My Late Father-in-Law."
The respected actress revealed that her late father-in-law had previously cautioned her against employing mature women as house helps, as he believed it often led to the practice of polygamy, which he strongly disapproved of.
Expressing deep sadness, Rita Edochie shared that Yul Edochie has deviated from his grandfather's cherished legacy, a legacy that held great significance for the older generation.
In a heartfelt promise to her late father-in-law, she vowed to ensure that Yul Edochie returns to his wife, as she firmly believes in the enduring truth of his words.
Quoting her late father-in-law, Rita Edochie wrote:
“A word of advice from my late father-in-law, mazi Ejimofor Odogwu Sylvester Edochie.
He, like never before, called me and said, 'Rita, I don't like the idea of having mature women as house helps because it may lead to polygamy in the home.' He shared this with me because I had a habit of employing mature women as my house helps.
I responded, 'Papa, I understand my husband well, and that's why I can afford to do so.' His reply, in the Hausa language, was 'toh,' which means 'I said this because the penis has no sense.' I quickly replied to him, 'My husband does not have time for women outside, let alone housemaids. I know my husband, Papa.'
We concluded the matter, and it remained that way until now. Little did we know that the issue of polygamy would arise from his grandchild. But Papa, I promise you, wherever you are, your statement still stands. Trust me, we are not sleeping."
