A Delta High Court in Effurun has approved an out-of-court settlement between Brownhill Investment Company and Mr David Adeleke, widely known as Davido.

Justice Michael Obi of High Court Three, Effurun, praised both parties for resolving the matter amicably outside the courtroom.

Brownhill Investment Company, owned by Mr Amaju Pinnick, former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), filed a lawsuit (marked EHC/183/2023) against Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited, in October 2023.

The lawsuit stemmed from a breach of contract related to Davido's performance at the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again Concert’.

The company sought N2 billion in general damages from the defendants for failing to fulfill the concert contract, along with N150 million for legal and professional fees, and an additional N30 million for filing costs.

In response to the court's decision, counsel for the defendants, Mr Oladayo Ogungbe, informed NAN that both parties had reached an out-of-court settlement.

"As part of the settlement, Davido will perform again in Warri on Oct. 4," Ogungbe stated. "This resolution avoids the complexities of litigation and is a win-win for both sides."

NAN notes that the ‘Warri Again’ concert is an annual event organized by Pinnick to honor entertainers from the Niger Delta region.
