Reality TV star Josephina Ijeoma Otabor, widely known as Phyna, has spoken out about the speculations surrounding her alleged relationship with 17-year-old singer Khaid. The controversy ignited when Phyna and Khaid shared a cozy photo on social media earlier this year, drawing criticism due to the significant age gap between them.
Addressing the issue on her Spill With Phyna podcast, she expressed frustration with the societal double standards, particularly when it comes to age differences in relationships. Phyna questioned the imbalance in judgments between men and women choosing younger partners, highlighting the hypocrisy in such perceptions.
In her own words, she said, "Me and this boy take picture; Khaid. He is young and the picture, I posted is. He posted it as well. Omo, if you see the dragging, ‘Oh Phyna, is this boy you’re dating now?’, ‘Oh Phyna is 30 years old, this boy is 10 years old.’”
Phyna expressed bewilderment at the intense scrutiny, pointing out the societal acceptance of relationships where men are significantly older than their female partners. She emphasized the need for a more balanced perspective on age and relationships, challenging the prevailing norms.
