Renowned music producer Philkeys recently shared an intriguing anecdote about his encounter with Kizz Daniel, revealing how he turned down the singer's offer of N50,000 for a studio session during Kizz Daniel's early days in the music industry.
Philkeys, who had already been working with legendary Nigerian musician King Sunny Ade at the time, justified his decision to decline Kizz Daniel's offer, explaining that his professional fees had exceeded the amount being proposed. However, fate would bring the two artists together for future collaborations once Kizz Daniel achieved stardom. Philkeys disclosed this during a recent interview with MTV Base Africa.
"Kizz Daniel reached out to me. He wasn't signed at the time. He told me that he had a certain amount of money, around N50,000, that he wanted to work with me," Philkeys recounted.
"However, my charges had already surpassed N50,000 by that time because I was working with Sunny Ade. I was in a good position then. So, I declined the offer," he explained.
Curious to see if Kizz Daniel would reconsider, Philkeys waited for a follow-up call, but it never came. As a result, they let that opportunity pass. However, destiny had other plans, as Kizz Daniel eventually rose to fame and reached out to Philkeys once again, expressing his desire to collaborate.
"When he blew up, he called me back and said he wanted to work with me," Philkeys revealed, indicating that their paths aligned at a later stage in their respective careers.
