The Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood, is plunged into mourning once again following the passing of veteran actor Ganiyu Oyeyemi, widely known as Ogunjimi.
Actor Kunle Afod broke the heartbreaking news on Friday, April 26, disclosing that despite efforts to avert his demise, Ogunjimi has passed away.
Throughout his illustrious career, the deceased was celebrated for his gripping performances, particularly in Yoruba movies. He carved a niche for himself by portraying characters with intense depth, often embodying the roles of warlords and individuals possessing mystical powers, notably as a wizard in films centered around witchcraft themes.
Ogunjimi was revered alongside actors such as Abija, Lalude, Fadeyi, and Dagunro, who were renowned for their exceptional portrayals of traditional herbalist roles in the cinematic realm.
In a poignant caption accompanying the announcement, Kunle Afod expressed heartfelt sentiments: “We tried our best but God loves you more. May his soul rest in peace. Baba Ogunjimi RIP Sun re oooo.”
